On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 1:40 a.m., a vehicle was observed traveling west on East Montauk Highway near Bittersweet Avenue South, Hampton Bays, New York, failing to maintain its lane of travel and committing other traffic infractions.  A Southampton Town Police Officer stopped the vehicle, and upon further investigation, the driver, identified as Jefferson Antonio Macas-Cosios, age 30, of Hampton Bays, New York, was found to be operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated.   

Mr. Macas-Cosios was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.  He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), and other vehicle and traffic law violations.  

Mr. Macas-Cosios was held overnight and is scheduled to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment.
