On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 11:52PM., the Southampton Town Police Department Communications Division received a report of a motorist traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Montauk Highway in the vicinity of Shinnecock Animal Hospital, Hampton Bays, New York.
Patrol units responded and located the vehicle traveling eastbound on Montauk Highway near Oceanview Road in Hampton Bays. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and subsequent investigation revealed that the operator was intoxicated and operating the vehicle while his New York State driving privileges were suspended and revoked.
Consequently, Gerardo Rojas-Martinez, 35 years of age, who is undomiciled but frequents the Town of Southampton, was placed under arrest and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.
He was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a felony, and numerous other traffic offenses. He was processed and held for morning arraignment.
