On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 6:19 a.m., a vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic infractions on Flanders Road near Spinney Road in Flanders, New York.
Following an investigation, it was determined that the driver, Dwayne Mitchell, 42, of Riverhead, was operating the vehicle while impaired by marijuana. Mr. Mitchell was placed under arrest and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.
He was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Drugs, a misdemeanor, as well as multiple additional traffic infractions.
