On Sunday, March 15, 2026, at approximately 11:57PM., the Southampton Town Police Department Communications Division received a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of Bay Avenue West and Duvall Drive, Hampton Bays, New York.

Patrol units responded and determined that the driver of the vehicle, while operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition, left the travel portion of the roadway and struck a brick-constructed mailbox, causing a considerable amount of damage to both the mailbox and the vehicle.  The driver then left the scene of the accident without reporting the incident.  After officers arrived on scene, they observed the vehicle driving by the location.   Officers subsequently stopped the vehicle and identified the driver.  No injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

Consequently, Ana C. Torres-Mendoza, 26 years of age, of Hampton Bays, New York, was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing.

She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and other traffic offenses.  She was processed and held for morning arraignment.
