Details: On January 5, 2026 Southampton Town Police responded to a local business in Bridgehampton and spoke to the owner who reported a former employee had used his business and personal credit cards to make unauthorized charges totaling in excess of $17,000.00. These charges started in July 2025 and were made to various online websites.

After an extensive investigation by the Southampton Town Police Department Detective Division, Madeleine Tavernier, age 32 of East Hampton, was arrested on 2/25/26 on a charge of Grand Larceny 3 (felony). She was processed at Southampton Town Police Headquarters and brought for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court. She was released for a future Court date.
