On Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 1:19 a.m., a vehicle was observed traveling west on Montauk Highway near Springville Road, Hampton Bays, New York, failing to maintain its lane of travel. A Southampton Town Police Officer stopped the vehicle, and upon further investigation, the driver, identified as Lincer Arbey Florez-Vargas, age 45, of Flanders, New York, was found to be operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Mr. Florez-Vargas was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), and other vehicle and traffic law violations.
Mr. Florez-Vargas was held overnight and is scheduled to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment.
