On Monday, December 22, 2025, at approximately 10:50PM., the Southampton Town Police Department Communications Division received a report of a motor vehicle with heavy front-end damage, traveling on East Tiana Road in Hampton Bays, New York.    

Responding officers located the vehicle stopped on East Tiana Road and Pineview Lane, with the driver still seated behind the wheel.  Further investigation determined that the driver, while in an intoxicated condition, left the roadway and struck a fence on a nearby property.  No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.   

As a result of the investigation, James Henry Stones, age 42, of Hampton Bays, New York, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a felony, along with additional traffic infractions.  Stones was transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters, where he was processed and held pending morning arraignment.
