Civilian Academy

The Southampton Town Police announce the 2026 Civilian Academy. The Civilian Police Academy offers a unique opportunity to see and experience what our police officers do on a daily basis.  Our Civilian Academy invites Southampton Town residents to receive specialized training given at police headquarters for the purpose of bringing the Police Department and the community closer together. It opens up the lines of communication and builds trust between the police and the community. There is NO physical component to the program.

You will gain insight into the critical training including Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Use of Force, Driving While Intoxicated, Narcotics Enforcement, Domestic Violence, Investigations, Gangs, as well as other topics. Additionally, students have the option of riding along with Police Officers from the department for a tour of duty and attending a demonstration at the Police Firearms Range & Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (E.V.O.C.).

Southampton Town Police Department is holding the 2026 Civilian Academy beginning January 15, 2026. The Academy will run for sixteen weeks, every Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm. Seats are limited and Southampton Town Residents will be given priority, however, consideration for non-town residents will be made pending the availability of seating.
