On Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at approximately 9:00 am, Southampton Town Police stopped a motorist near the intersection of Pegs Lane at Lake Avenue, Riverside, New York, 11901, for failing to maintain his lane of travel and for having a defective rear brake light. An investigation revealed that the operator, Diego F. Farinango Chicaiza, 30 years old, from Flanders, New York, was operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He was arrested and transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters for processing. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor), and other vehicle and traffic violations. Mr. Farinango Chicaiza is being held overnight and is scheduled to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for a morning arraignment.
