On Wednesday February 11th, 2026 at about 6:40 PM Southampton Town Police patrol units responded to the area of West Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays for a report of a one car motor vehicle crash. Responding units found a 2013 Nissan had run off the roadway and collided with a snow embankment in front of the Chase Bank. Further investigation done by officers on scene found that vehicles driver a Fausto Velasquez Cerrato age 49 of Flanders, NY was operating in an intoxicated condition. He was arrested at the scene and then transported to police headquarters for processing. Velasquez Cerrato is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor) and several traffic infractions. He was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court.
