On Sunday, February 1, 2026, at about 4:06PM., the Southampton Town Police Department received a report of a single car motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of County Road 39 and Shrubland Road in Southampton, New York. Patrol units responded and determined that the driver of the motor vehicle, while in an intoxicated condition, struck a snow embankment causing damage to the vehicle he was operating. No injuries were reported in the motor vehicle accident. Further investigation revealed that his driver's license is suspended and that he has an active Nassau District Court bench warrant.
Consequently, James H. Reynolds, 58 years of age, of Southampton, New York, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree, a misdemeanor, and a traffic infraction. Reynolds was transported to Southampton Town Police Headquarters where he was processed and held for morning arraignment.
