Community Service Challenge

The Southampton Youth Bureau is offering grant funding for Community Service Projects created and implemented by local youth groups. Applications may be submitted for up to $500 to support a project that will benefit others in Southampton Township. A total of $2,500 will be awarded through this grant program. Applications are due by March 8, 2019 and projects must be completed by November 30, 2019.



3 on 3 Basketball Tournament:

The Southampton Youth Bureau will be hosting their annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm at the SYS Recreation Center, 1370A Majors Path. The event is open to students in grades 5 – 12 and prizes will be awarded to middle & high school brackets. Teams can pre-register by Thursday, March 14th for $15 or register a team at the door for $30. Since space is limited, pre-registration is strongly recommended. Admission is free for non-players and $2 roundtrip transportation is available from several locations.

Marijuana: Vaping, Legalization, Medical Workshop:

The East End Partnership for Youth will be sponsoring a workshop about current marijuana trends and the status of New York State law on Wednesday, March 20th from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the Riverhead Free Library, 330 Court St. Workshop will be presented by Pamela Mizzi, LMHC, CASAC - Program Director, Family Service League. 2 Social Work and LMHC CEUs available for $20. Open to students in grades 5 – 12 

Creative Arts Contest: Mental Health Awareness 

Mental health issues are a common part of our lives. The Southampton Youth Bureau’s getting the conversation started about Mental Health through this year’s Creative Arts Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 5 – 12 who reside or attend school in the Town of Southampton. Art work will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation based on the artist’s portrayal of “Mental Health Awareness”. All art entries (maximum of two entries per artist) must be dropped off at the Southampton Youth Bureau’s main office at the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Rd or at the Citizens’ Response Center in Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road by Tuesday, April 30th. Participating artists are invited to bring their families and friends to the final exhibit at the Watermill Center, 39 Water Mill Towd Rd on Wednesday, May 15th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Prizes will be awarded to the “Best Art Piece” in the categories of photography, graphic art, sculpture, and free-hand. Light refreshments will be served. 6th Annual Hamptons Got Talent Competition:

Saturday, April 6th (Inclement weather date: Friday, April 12th) from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at Hampton Bays High School, 88 Argonne Rd E. 22 local youth in middle & high school will showcase their talents and compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. This year’s performers include musicians, vocalists, and dancers. Throughout the night, audience members will have the chance to win giveaways and vote for a People’s Choice Award. Admission is $10 and all are welcome!
