Open Mic Night at Hampton Coffee Company  

The Southampton Youth Bureau will be hosting their next Open Mic Night at Hampton Coffee Company, 749 County Rd 39 on Friday, February 28th. If you're in grades 5 - 12, then come on out for your chance to share your talent! The mic is open from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and acoustic performers & bands, karaoke, spoken word, poetry and comedic acts are all welcome to participate. Video Game Tournament 

The Southampton Youth Bureau and the Hampton Bays Library Teen Center will be hosting a Video Game Tournament from 11:00am – 2:00pm on Saturday, March 7th at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Ave. Pre-registration is $5 by Friday, March 6th or $10 at the door. The tournament will include games such as Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, Mortal Kombat XI, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, and Mario Kart 8. Tournament is open to grades 5 – 12 and participants will be divided into middle and high school brackets. Pre-registered participants will be automatically entered into a raffle giveaway. A gift card grand prize will be awarded to the winners in each bracket. All participants who wish to play M rated games must have a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian.

3 on 3 Basketball Tournament 

The Southampton Youth Bureau will be hosting their annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, March 27, 2020 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm at the SYS Recreation Center, 1370A Majors Path. This event is open to all students in 5th through 12th grade. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams in middle and high school brackets. Proof of age is required. Pre-register by Thursday, March 26, 2020 for $15 per team by submitting a completed form and payment to the Southampton Youth Bureau located at 655 Flanders Road, Flanders, NY 11901 or register at the door from 6:00pm – 6:45pm for $30 per team. Space is limited so pre-register early! Admission is free for non-players and $2 roundtrip transportation is available from several locations.

Creative Arts Contest: Climate Change 

- Climate Change affects our world and our way of life in one way or another. The Southampton Youth Bureau’s getting the conversation started about Climate Change through this year’s Creative Arts Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 5 – 12 who reside or attend school in the Town of Southampton. Artwork will be judged on quality, creativity, and presentation based on the artist’s portrayal of “Climate Change”. All art entries (maximum of two entries per artist) must be dropped off at the Southampton Youth Bureau’s main office at the Flanders Community Center, 655 Flanders Rd or at the Citizens’ Response Center in Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Road by Thursday, April 2nd. Participating artists are invited to bring their families and friends to the final exhibit at the Watermill Center, 39 Water Mill Towd Rd on Tuesday, April 28th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Prizes will be awarded to the “Best Art Piece” in the categories of photography, graphic art, sculpture, and free-hand. Light refreshments will be served.

Band Applications Available for the 18th Annual Battle of the Bands Competition 

Band applications are now available for the Southampton Youth Bureau’s 18th Annual Battle of the Bands. This year’s competition will be held on Friday, June 5th (Rain Date: Friday, June 19th) at Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays from 8:00pm – 11:00pm. All applications and demo music must be received by 4:00pm on Friday, May 8th 2020 and can be sent or dropped off to: BATTLE OF THE BANDS – YOUTH BUREAU, Southampton Youth Bureau, 655 Flanders Road, Flanders, NY, 11901. Band applications and demo music may also be emailed to Peter Strecker at southamptonyouthbureau@gmail.com. Qualifying bands must have at least one high school student who resides in the Town of Southampton, and a band must consist of a minimum of 3 performing musicians.
