We have had another successful year of the Great East End Clean-up due to volunteers picking up litter and debris throughout the Town of Southampton. Despite being postponed, the clean-up was well attended with 490 participants. This event has usually taken place each spring and has attracted hundreds of residents to clean-up locations such as roadsides, trails, parks, and beaches. During this year’s clean up, various groups worked hard to collect 22.89 tons of garbage and 27 tires from Eastport to Sagaponack.
Councilman Martel went to various clean-ups from Hampton Bays to Sag Harbor and joined groups such as the Boy Scouts, the Hampton Bays Rotary and the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt. “There were so many people of all ages showing their commitment towards keeping our waterways and parklands clean,” said Councilman Martel. “I’m thrilled to see that we collected 22 tons of garbage and I applaud everyone who was involved”.
