Message From The Supervisor

It is my honor to serve as Southampton Town Supervisor. Southampton is a vibrant community of year-round and seasonal residents and businesses, inhabiting in many distinct but interrelated hamlet and village centers. Our celebrated history as a Town dates back to 1640 as one of the first colonial settlements, but our proud history extends much further as the ancestral lands of the federally recognized Shinnecock Nation. Our 140 square mile land mass is bordered on the south by the Atlantic Ocean and the north by Peconic Bay and dotted throughout with beautiful harbors, creeks and ponds. A long history of living off the land and sea continues today with agriculture and commercial fishing comprising major sectors of the local economy. We cherish our bucolic setting-our open spaces, farmland, historic landmarks and small town way of life. Our hardworking families are the back bone of this culturally diverse community, many of whom volunteer their time in our fire and ambulance departments, or other civic organizations.

As Supervisor, I stand ready to assist residents in delivering needed services. I invite you to take advantage of this website and to participate in town government. By being an involved citizen you can help shape the future of this great town.

Sincerely,

Jay Schneiderman,
Southampton Town Supervisor
