Veterans Services
Southampton Town offers information and referrals for assistance with Veterans issues and concerns. Veterans and or their dependents can contact the Suffolk County Veterans Service Officer directly by calling 631 853-VETS to determine qualifications for any Veterans Affairs benefits and to identify and assist with the preparation and submission of applications for available benefits including:
- Pensions
- Compensation
- Tax exemptions
- Counseling
- Aid and Attendance, a reimbursement program that helps reduce home health costs.

Veterans are entitled to a free beach parking permit.
Contact the Parks and Recreation Office at 631-728-8585. Veterans - need to show a copy of Driver’s License, DD214 or vet status for proof of eligibility. MUST be purchased in Hamptons Bays at Parks and Recreation Office, 6 Newtown Road, Hampton Bays.
Veterans are entitled to tax exemptions.

Honor Flight Long Island
WWII, Korean and Vietnam War Veterans who have not seen their Memorial in Washington DC are eligible for a free round-trip flight to Washington through Honor Flight Long Island, a non-profit which has already flown over 1000 WWII and Korean War Vets. The East End Veterans Court:
Veterans arrested on non-violent charges must plead guilty to the crime then sign a contract outlining their responsibility to the program and the consequences for failing to follow them. The goal is rehabilitation not punishment. Judge Martha Rogers presides.. The program is under the umbrella of the Suffolk County Unified Court System.

Veteran’s Docket Day
Veteran's Docket Day provides the opportunity for honorably discharged veterans, or those currently serving who have traffic, parking or red light camera citations pending before TPVA to participate in a special conference with a prosecutor. Veterans Docket Day is held at the Suffolk County Traffic and Parking Violations Agency in Hauppauge on the third Friday of the month at 2:00 P.M.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families
The VA developed the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program. Supportive services grants have been awarded to selected private non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives that will assist very low-income Veteran families who are homeless or in imminent threat of being homeless by providing assistance in achieving self-sufficiency, long term housing stability and improved quality of life.
Assistance provided can include:
- Permanent Housing assistance
- Rental Payment
- Security Deposit Payments
- Moving Expenses
- Childcare expenses
- Vocational and Rehab counseling
- Employment training services
- Health care services
