2026 U.S. Open Championship

The 2026 U.S. Open Championship will be held June 15–21, 2026 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, NY. Below is details, including dates, location, tickets, transportation, media, volunteers, and additional resources.

Details

Field

156 professional and amateur players. A portion of the field will earn exemptions into the championship through one of several designated exemption categories. The remaining players will earn a playing spot through U.S. Open Qualifying. Any professional or amateur golfer with a USGA handicap index not exceeding 1.4 may enter U.S. Open Qualifying.

Format

72-hole stroke play; the field will be cut to low 60 scores (and ties) following the completion of 36 holes. A 2-hole aggregate playoff will take place Sunday evening if two or more players are tied after 72 holes.

Transportation

A satellite parking and transportation plan will be implemented with remote parking lots in proximity to Shinnecock Hills Golf Club. Similar to past U.S. Opens at Shinnecock Hills, a temporary LIRR train station will be constructed nearby the course to facilitate mass transit. There will be a defined ride share and passenger drop-off location. More information on parking, transportation, and traffic patterns will be shared in Spring 2026.
