PRESS RELEASE Oct. 30, 2018Contact: Connie Conway(631) 702-1743
Southampton Town Board members joined community residents on Tuesday October 30, 2018 for a groundbreaking ceremony to begin the renovation of the Ponquogue Beach facility. The $3 million renovation is expected to be completed by the start of the next summer season.
The construction contracts were awarded to three separate contractors, Construction Consultants, LLC for the general construction, Plumbwell Services for plumbing, and NY Trenchless for electrical work. The facility will undergo various renovations including, new IPE decking and railings, siding, roofing, cupolas, interior hardware and finishes, expanded deck space, a new entrance, additional shower, completely renovated restrooms and parking lot improvements.
Hundreds of residents provided input in the renovation process through polling and community meetings. The beach pavilion, built in the 1960’s has weathered many storms but as one community member put it, the facility is “in need of some love”.
During the construction there will be no public access to the facility or parking lot. The demolition, use and storage of construction equipment and materials and parking lot work will require the entire site to be secured.
