Southampton Town Weathers Nor’easter With Little Damage
The Town of Southampton suffered minimal impact from last night’s Nor’easter. There was flooding in the usual spots along Dune Road west of the Ponquogue Bridge and in the Long Neck Boulevard area in Flanders. One motorist was stranded in the flooding on Dune Road.
There were 2 instances of downed wires and a few downed tree limbs. There was one transformer fire but no widespread power outages. "We were definitely spared the brunt of the storm”, said Supervisor Jay Schneiderman. "It certainly was a good thing that temperatures were above freezing!"
“It was helpful to me to get frequent updates throughout the night from the Police Department.” These comprehensive updates represent a new protocol implemented by our incoming Police Chief Steven Skrynecki.
Town Departments will continue to monitor problem areas throughout the day.
