Southampton Town Introduces New ePermits
The Town of Southampton has developed an online application called ePermits, which makes it easier for residents to apply for permits. This online application allows an individual or company to apply for a permit, from the comfort of their home or in the field, avoiding the lines in the Building Department. With a few clicks, you can choose the permit type(s), associate it with a specific property, submit the required application, make an online secure payment, initiate the permit, and receive a receipt via email. The first permits offered through this service are electrical permits, with more to be added shortly. ePermits also provides the ability to renew an existing permit.
“We know this is the wave of the future”, said GIS Manager Ross Baldwin. “To start, the system is only available for electrical permits, but we will be building on it and providing access to additional permits from various departments in the near future.”
“This is going to give residents and contractors easy access for permits and it will help our building department work more efficiently”, said Supervisor Jay Schneiderman. “This is just another step the Town is taking to make government more accessible and efficient for everyone.”
The Town’s new ePermits system can be found online at https://epermits.southamptontownny.gov. If you’re already in Town Hall, this new epermits system can also be accessed at the Town’s new eDocs center, across the hall from the Building Department in Town Hall.
