    Applicants must submit a lottery intake application to the Long Island Housing Partnership in order to be entered into the lottery. The lottery will establish the ranking number to submit a formal application to LIHP for review to purchase the home. A public lottery will be held at Southampton Town Hall on October 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Applicants do not have to attend the lottery to be placed on the ranking list.     If you are in grades 7th through 12th and interested in planning trips and events, doing community service projects, and making friends with students from other schools, then sign up for YAC! The Southampton Youth Bureau is looking for new members to join its Youth Advisory Committee, (YAC) for 2018 – 2019. As a YAC member, you can help make a difference in your community. Community service projects may include leaf raking for senior citizens, hosting a blood drive, meeting with elected officials in Albany for youth causes, participating in a sticker shock alcohol awareness campaign, or other activities that can make a difference in our community. YAC is a great way to get involved and to earn community service credit hours during the school year. Meetings are held every other Tuesday beginning September 25th 2018 at the Hampton Bays Community Center, 25 Ponquogue Ave, 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Transportation is available upon request.     The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau will be co-sponsoring a new program called “Youth and Government” through the Alliance of NYS YMCAs. Youth & Government is a national program that involves teens nationwide in state-organized, model-government programs. Students in grades 9 - 12 will have the opportunity to practice experiential civic engagement and learn about the democratic process. Youth will discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of New York State and will get a chance to deliberate in the chambers of the NYS Legislature at a state conference in Albany.


    The Southampton Youth Bureau’s Youth & Government program meets on Wednesdays from 6:00pm – 7:30pm in the Second Floor Conference Room at Southampton Town Hall, 116 Hampton Rd. For more information, please call (631) 702-2425 or Councilman Tommy John Schiavoni at (631) 287-5745.

  8. Act TWO Teen Community Theater

    The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is now accepting registrations for Act TWO. Act TWO is a teen theater group that uses drama games and acting in investigating and problem solving. Students will learn using Crime Scene Investigating techniques in how to identify and resolve problems through improvisation, role playing, and group discussion. Skits are created and performed by students in 7th – 12th grade for other youth audiences. Classes are held on Thursdays beginning September 13, 2018 at the Hampton Bays Public Library, 52 Ponquogue Ave from 6:00pm – 7:30pm. Registration is ongoing but required in advance.   12. Youth Court

    October 29, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM @ Southampton Town Justice Court

    Youth Court is a very popular program and a great way to earn community service credits and build your college resume. Students work together to hold real trials for juvenile offenders, where all the facts of the case are heard and the jury decides on a disposition, or “sentence”, for the offender to repair the harm that they have caused to the victims. Cases range from trespassing, driving without a license, underage drinking to harassment, possession, and theft - among others.

    Any teen in grades 9 - 12 living in the Town of Southampton can participate. Students who are interested in becoming an attorney, improving public speaking skills, learning about the justice system, building their college/job resume or just enjoy community service are invited to join.

    Youth Court meets every Monday, beginning October 15th 2018 from 6:00pm -7:30pm at the Southampton Town Justice Court, 32 Jackson Ave. Transportation is available east of the Shinnecock canal.
