Second, the actual cable pulling, which consists of the use of large spools to allow the new electric cables to be pulled through the splice manholes and into the existing and new conduits to the next splice manhole. Large equipment will be staged at both ends of the process to assist with pulling. The work is planned for daytime hours. NOTE: All splice manholes numbered 12.5 and greater are along Sunrise Highway until 37.5.
o The schedule for cable pulling is as follows:
 Thursday, January 14, 2021: Pull cable from 38.5 to 38.5A. NOTE: Splice Manhole 38.5 is located in Canal Road at the Shinnecock Canal Bridge in Hampton Bays, and Splice Manhole 38.5A is located in the eastbound Canal Road onramp to Sunrise Highway. During these activities, full road closures will occur, with temporary detours in place.

For 38.5A, a temporary road closure of the onramp will occur, and temporary detours will be in place.

• Cable Splicing:
o Generally, cable splicing includes a crew working inside of a climate-controlled work trailer positioned directly over the splice manhole to allow for access, and limitations on dust and debris being a part of the process. Crews work continuously for approximately six days to complete each splice. The work is non-obtrusive, and limited to the work trailer. Single lane closures around the splice manhole should be expected during this activity.
